ABOUT

The birth and evolution of ColleMassari Estates represent the fulfilment of a dream rooted in a deep passion for nature and wine, two elements that have always defined the history and identity of the Bertarelli-Tipa family. Today, the Group encompasses four wineries, ColleMassari, Grattamacco, Poggio di Sotto, and San Giorgio, and one hospitality property, ColleMassari Hospitality. It is the result of a shared vision and the steadfast commitment of siblings Claudio Tipa and Maria Iris Bertarelli.Their dream, inspired by childhood memories and a desire to live in harmony with nature, took shape in 1998 with the acquisition of Castello di ColleMassari, the first step in what would become a symbol of Tuscan winemaking excellence. From the very beginning, ColleMassari Estates has sought to combine respect for the land with a contemporary approach to agriculture, grounded in sustainability and the enhancement of local terroirs. In these hills, rich in history and biodiversity, the Group’s philosophy is built on a constant balance between tradition and innovation — where technology serves nature, never the other way around. Each estate within the Group embodies its own distinct identity, deeply rooted in the land that surrounds it: the windswept hills of the Maremma, the sunlit slopes of Bolgheri, the ridges of Mount Amiata, and the timeless beauty of Montalcino. Together, they tell a shared story of dedication, research, and authenticity. What unites ColleMassari, Grattamacco, Poggio di Sotto, and San Giorgio is a single vision: to craft wines that express the essence of the Tuscan landscape, the strength of its soils, and the value of daily work.Every bottle signed ColleMassari Estates embodies the perfect balance of craftsmanship, innovation, and devotion, wines that, through their character, tell the world the story and spirit of Tuscany at its finest.

COLLEMASSARI

In the heart of the Maremma, ColleMassari was founded in 1998 from the vision of the Tipa-Bertarelli family — to restore value and a future to an unspoiled natural landscape, in full respect of its balance.
Spread over more than 1,200 hectares, of which 120 are organically farmed vineyards, the estate is a self-sustaining ecosystem where vines, olive groves, and woodlands coexist in harmony with the rhythms of the land. The winery, designed by Edoardo Milesi, combines architecture and function, merging efficiency and beauty in a model of sustainable, forward-looking agriculture.

GRATTAMACCO

Founded in 1977, it is the second historic winery of Bolgheri and the first to have vinified both Bolgheri Rosso and Vermentino. A pioneer in introducing Sangiovese into the blend and in adopting organic viticulture, Grattamacco has elevated the high-altitude vineyards and complex soils of Bolgheri, producing authentic wines of remarkable elegance and purity — a true expression of its terroir.

POGGIO DI SOTTO

In Castelnuovo dell’Abate, on the most privileged slopes of Montalcino, Poggio di Sotto has captured since 1989 the noblest essence of Sangiovese. Its organically farmed vineyards, located between 190 and 440 meters above sea level, host over 180 biotypes of Sangiovese, a unique heritage that gives rise to complex, age-worthy wines recognized as icons of Brunello di Montalcino.

SAN GIORGIO

At the foot of Mount Amiata, San Giorgio overlooks the Val d’Orcia with its 142 hectares, 28 of which are planted exclusively to Sangiovese. Certified organic since 2019, the estate follows a philosophy of slow fermentation and long ageing in large oak casks, creating wines that reflect the purity and strength of the Montalcino landscape.

COLLEMASSARI HOSPITALITY

Nestled among the rolling hills of the Maremma, ColleMassari Hospitality welcomes guests into a place where nature, architecture, and the culture of wine exist in perfect balance.
Here, hospitality becomes an experience: a stay among vineyards and olive groves where time slows down, and the beauty of the Tuscan landscape reveals itself in its most authentic form.
